THE MOST UNIQUE PROPERTY ON THE BOCAS DEL TORO MARKET, 3 PRIVATE ISLANDS
You will never find another opportunity like this one! “On the Rocks” is made up of 3 private islands with a sturdy home nestled between them, by far the most unique construction in Bocas del Toro. This paradise home was designed to fit between 2 of the three islands, only steps from the white sand beaches of Isla Popa. That’s right – steps! Wade from the rear island to the beach at low tide!
Activities are endless at On the Rocks, snorkel the reef and paddle around the mini islets that surround this incredible home, dive for lobster or conch from your own dock or go deep sea fishing in your 2002 Eastern Lobster Boat with a 130 hp Honda outboard. Walk down the beach to Popa Paradise Beach Resort with a restaurant and bar in high season. Fall asleep to the mesmerizing sound of rolling waves and wake up the same way!
The On the Rocks Private Islands, are only a 25 minute boat ride from the main island of Bocas Del Toro, where the airport is located. Though you will feel absolutely marooned at the On the Rocks home, it’s actually only 8 minutes away from Cayo Coral, where you will find all the necessities to fuel your adventures – gas, propane, a small food store and a restaurant.
Of the three small islands that make up the property, Island A and B are attached to one another by the home itself, they include grey water tanks and a septic system and the two docks. Island C is separate but only yards away, here you can watch dolphins hunt for lobster from the front deck of the home.
A lot of rock work has been done, transforming the island’s steep earthy edges to cave-like water accesses and protecting the island from erosion. The center island ( island B) has been landscaped with stairs connecting its two ridges. Between the two ridges is the guest dock, and a central concrete patio. The ridge closest to Isla Popa has a shed and a ladder to climb down the back of the island and access the beach. On the other ridge a shaded wooden platform has been built to rest and gaze over to the Zapatillas Islands, from here you access the home.
The 3 islands each have dramatic topography, offering building platforms high above the sea, and soil rich enough to grow fruit and giant shade trees. Every Thursday fresh vegetables are delivered to the dock, so really there is no need to leave!
This open concept home is one of a kind, perched on thick rebar enforced and pvc protected stilts over the Caribbean sea. The home has 2 bedrooms, one of them is on the main floor, a large L shaped loft makes a gorgeous second bedroom with its high wooden ceilings. A modern kitchen open concept living room and 1 bathroom are on the main floor, with surround sound speaker system to blast your favorite tunes with no neighbors to disturb. A deck wraps the front of the home, with panoramic sea views out to the Zapatillas Islands Marine Park.
Fully off grid, this home comes with a zero bill lifestyle! No property taxes, no municipal water or energy, just solar and rainwater catchment here.
