Isla Popa is one of the biggest and least populated islands in the bocas del toro archipelago. With only 2 small indigenous towns, and the scattered off-grid homes of expats and farmers, the island has not been exploited touristically, though it boasts some beautiful beaches on its windward shores. Until last year, lofty plans to make a bridge to Isla Popa were almost laughable, but over the last 2 years, road access has been carved from the David-Almirante highway to a handful of remote communities on the mainland peninsula. A glance at the map below, will show you just how close Popa really is to the mainland! A bridge might not be such a wild dream after all...and if you are like us, wild dreams are exactly what have lead you to this website, and it's no coincidence you've landed on this listing
THE WILDSIDE OF ISLA POPA
The Wildside of Popa Property is made up of 5 titled hectares, and an astonishing 28 hectares of right of posession land ( RoP). From this side of Popa, there are no neighbors in sight, the property is a secret hideout with extravagant topography creating multiple hills, look out points, and multiple valleys with fresh water. The jungle is raw, and the bay's calm waters are protected from the open sea, despite the windward location on the island. A straight shot to the popular Zapatillas Island Nature Park, only minutes from deserted beaches of Isla Popa, this property is centrally located among the wildest locations of the archipelago, heck, it's even one third of the way to Escudo de Veraguas if you're measuring from Bocas town! Needless to say, the bay is an ideal place for mooring sailboats, or other vessels to launch your nature adventures and the serene retreat is a massive 33.3 hectare chunk of pure privacy, a luxury not to be underestimated these days!
A brand new dock has been built to access the property through the mangroves that belt the shoreline, and a caretaker's home sits on a lovely elevated build site, surrounded by citrus and breadfruit trees.
